A Des Moines insurance man accused of shooting his estranged wife on Interstate Highway 235 pleaded guilty today to a second-degree murder charge.

Randy Lee Davis admitted that he shot his wife as she drove eastbound on Sept. 11, 2008, just north of downtown Des Moines. Second-degree murder carries a maximum 50-year prison sentence, with a requirement that he serve at least 35.
